Product Care

Each Lara Saget Collection piece brings together materials with distinct physical properties. Glass, stone, metal, and organic matter respond differently to heat, moisture, friction, and wear. Proper care will preserve the integrity of these materials over time. Store jewelry separately when not in use and avoid impact, abrasion, prolonged moisture, and exposure to chemicals.

MATERIAL INDEX

Specific care varies by material, as outlined below.

KILN-CAST GLASS

Glass is strong, but vulnerable to impact and sudden changes in temperature. Avoid dropping or striking glass against hard surfaces, which can cause it to chip or fracture.

Avoid rapid shifts between hot and cold temperatures, which can place stress on the glass.

SOLID GOLD

18K and 20K gold are durable precious metals, but their surfaces can develop fine scratches and marks with wear.

Store separately from other jewelry to limit scratching.

18K GOLD MICRON-PLATED STERLING SILVER

Micron-plating builds layers of 18K gold over sterling silver, creating a more substantial finish than standard flash plating. Because the gold sits at the surface, friction and abrasion will gradually wear through the plating.

Avoid scratching and repeated contact with water, perfume, lotions, and household chemicals.

STERLING SILVER

Sterling silver naturally oxidizes over time, causing the surface to darken. This can be removed with gentle polishing.

Use a soft silver polishing cloth as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners, particularly when silver is combined with glass or stone.

PEARLS

Pearls are organic and softer than many of the materials they are paired with. Their surface is sensitive to chemicals and abrasion.

Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairspray, and household products. Store away from harder materials that could scratch the surface.

GEMSTONES

Gemstones differ in hardness, porosity, and sensitivity. Avoid impact, abrasive cleaning, harsh chemicals, and prolonged exposure to water.

Opal is relatively soft and sensitive to sudden changes in temperature and dry heat. Avoid thermal shock, extreme heat, chemicals, and abrasive surfaces.

Turquoise is relatively soft and porous. Oils, cosmetics, and chemicals can be absorbed by the stone and may alter its surface or color over time.
